At Words Work Literacy Society, our community adult learning programs provide lifelong learning opportunities for people living in Athabasca and the region.
Our learner-centred approach and respect for the adult learner’s experience, motivation and self-esteem create a welcoming and encouraging environment.
We know that adult learners have a reason for their learning, such as reading and speaking English, upgrading basic skills to find employment or knowing how to use their phone or computer to communicate with friends and family.
Our team of supportive staff, facilitators and volunteer tutors create a positive learning experience to help adult learners build their skills and meet their goals.
We offer one-on-one and group classes covering:
• Reading and Writing
• Math and Money
• English Language
• Basic Computers and Smartphones
• Work Skills
We also support lifelong learning with our family literacy program, Rhymes That Bind.
Our Learning Centre is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays by appointment from September through June. It is located on the lower level of the Town of Athabasca offices, in downtown Athabasca.
